About
“Bitter Sweet Symphony”
Every friday I am releasing a new single and today I released my version of “Bitter Sweet Symphony”.
“Bitter Sweet Symphony” by The Verve, released in June 1997, stands as one of the most iconic songs of the ’90s. Written by Richard Ashcroft, its unforgettable orchestral arrangement is based on a sample from an orchestral version of The Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time,” arranged by Andrew Oldham in 1965. Despite initially obtaining permission, a legal dispute arose over the extent of the sample used, leading to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards receiving co-writing credits and all royalties. In 2019, Jagger and Richards relinquished their rights, finally returning full royalties to Ashcroft.
The song’s poignant lyrics reflect on life’s struggles and contradictions, resonating deeply with listeners.
Its widespread use in films, TV shows, and commercials has cemented its place in pop culture, making “Bitter Sweet Symphony” a timeless anthem of existential reflection and the bittersweet nature of life.
The single “Bitter Sweet Symphony” is now available on all digital platforms 🎵💫
